Birdsville Big Red Bash

Birdsville and the Big Red Bash site have both dried up nicely with just a few soft spots on the town common.  Some rain is expected on Sunday and organises will be monitoring and planning around the weather. At this time it is not expected to impact local roads.

Birdsville to the North

NO CHANGE The Eyre Developmental Road from Bedourie to Birdsville is open and only has a 15km section of dirt.

Local council had completed works on the dirt sections and it has held up well given the small amount of rain and number of vehicles on the road.


Birdsville to the West

NO CHANGE Access to the Simpson Desert National Park is currently closed from Big Red due to river flooding at Eyre Creek this will be re-assessed on 15/7/2023

Some enquiries have been received regarding the Plenty Highway via Alice Springs, information provided suggests that travellers check conditions before any travel along this road.   Rain is expected today in the area which could significantly effect travel along this road.


Birdsville to the South

The Birdsville Track (Approx 500km of dirt) from Marree to Birdsville is fully closed.  The track has been inspected today and will remain closed at this time.  Continual assessments will be undertaken over the coming days.  An alternative route should be taken

Arrabury Road is open to 4WD only no towing so please check local road reports before travelling along this road.

Cordillo Downs Road now Closed at the southern end and impassable due to wet conditions.

Birdsville to the East

The Birdsville Developmental Road between Windorah and Birdsville is open and being well used by travellers..

There is approximately 200km of dirt on this road.
