How it works

One pass required
per vehicle

On top of everyone's General Admission ticket, every vehicle through the Main Gate needs a pass. Campers choose a camping pass, which sets the first day you can roll in. Staying in Birdsville? Choose Day Parking.

Good to know

Camping passes work from a date, not on a date. Your pass sets the earliest day you can roll in. Bought Camping from Saturday but arriving Monday? You don't need a new pass.

Looking for early entry? Camping from Saturday, Sunday and Monday replace the old Early Entry passes.

Day Parking explained

How Day Parking works

Day Parking is a separate car park inside the site, via an alternative access road to the Main Gate, so you skip the roll-in traffic. It’s included with every camping pass.

The difference is movement. Cars at your campsite stay put for the festival. From Day Parking, your car can leave the site and come back (into Birdsville, for example) between 8am and 10pm. To use it during the Bash, move your car there between 4pm and 6pm, Saturday 3 to Wednesday 7 July.

Staying in Birdsville instead of camping? Buy a Day Parking vehicle pass, which lets you use Day Parking from Monday 5 July.

Roll-in

A smoother, faster roll-in

Campsites are filled for efficiency, not strictly front to back. Several rows fill at once to keep vehicles moving and cut waiting times.

What this means for you. Camping from Saturday still gets you a great campsite, closer to the front than later arrivals, but arriving as the gates open doesn’t guarantee a front-row spot.

Avoid the peak. Arriving at busy times, especially before 11am, can mean a longer wait.

Why arrive early?

More nights on the red dirt

More time to relax

Set up at your own pace and enjoy the desert before the main festival begins.

Pre-Bash entertainment

Early arrivals can enjoy live music from the Early Entry Band and other activities in the lead-up to the festival.

Ease into the experience

Catch up with friends, meet new neighbours and enjoy the quieter side of Bashville before it fills up.

Early exit

Beat the roll-out crowd

An Early Exit Pass lets you leave the campground on Thursday 8 July between 2pm and 5pm, a day ahead of everyone else. Head off straight away, or leave your car in the Early Exit area and go after the music. You must leave by 10pm.

Camp in Birdsville that night. Outback roads are riskier after dark, so we strongly encourage going no further than Birdsville and carrying on early Friday. You’ll still be ahead of the rush.

Early Exit Passes are limited, and 100% of the fee goes to RFDS.

Questions

Yes. Every vehicle entering the site through the Main Gate needs a pass. Camping from Tuesday lets you roll in on any festival day, from Tuesday 6 July.
No. Day Parking is included with every camping vehicle pass, so you don’t need to buy a Day Parking vehicle pass as well. The Day Parking vehicle pass is for people staying in Birdsville town.
No. Your pass lets you roll in from Saturday 3 July or any day after, so arriving on the Monday is fine.
Yes. One pass covers the vehicle, all its occupants and anything it's towing.
Yes, using Day Parking. Cars at your campsite stay put, but you can move your car to Day Parking between 4pm and 6pm (Saturday 3 to Wednesday 7 July). From there it can come and go, into town and back, between 8am and 10pm. If you need to get to town without your car, use the transfer bus. Once you roll out at the end of the festival, there’s no re-entry.
Friday 9 July from 7am to 6pm, and Saturday 10 July from 7am to midday.
Managing the number of vehicles on outback roads at night is a key safety consideration, and we work closely with Birdsville emergency services, council and police on it. Passes are limited, and the small fee (all of it donated to RFDS) helps make sure they go to people who genuinely plan to leave early.
