In Birdsville
Before and after the Bash, the Birdsville population swells from about 300 to 10,000. During the Big Red Bash and the weeks surrounding it, accommodation options in Birdsville town are limited, so it’s worth looking at your options and planning in advance:
- Birdsville Caravan Park (powered & unpowered camping sites). Get in early, the caravan park often books out.
- Free camping area on the Common, south of town between the first cattle grid and the Diamantina river bridge (no facilities).
There’s no hotel or cabin accommodation available in Birdsville during the Bash, so bring your camping gear or caravan so you can be self contained.
