Birdsville Big Red Bash
It's Live! in Queensland

2-4 JULY 2024

Roll In Updates – 28th June

IMPORTANT FESTIVAL UPDATES

LATEST WEATHER UPDATE

Our event team continues to monitor the upcoming weather forecast, particularly for rain expected on Sunday. We have just had a meeting with the Bureau of Meteorology and have also reviewed a range of weather models to obtain the most accurate information regarding the expected amount and duration of rain.

The latest official BOM forecast predicts 4-20mm commencing early Sunday. Most models predict around the middle of this range.

There is no rain expected from Monday onwards. The show will go on, and we can’t wait to rock the Simpson Desert! 🤘

Travellers are reminded to keep up to date with local weather and road reports as conditions can change. It only takes a small amount of rain to have an effect on local roads, so please plan ahead and check your plans regularly.

FURTHER IMPORTANT ROLL IN CHANGES

If the amount of rain is at the upper end of this forecast, access to the site may be closed on Sunday 30th June and possibly through until Monday 1st July.

In light of this forecast, we are making further changes to roll in to enable as many patrons as possible to be on site prior to the rain starting.

ALL PATRONS will be provided access to site from 3pm this afternoon (Friday 28th June) until 8pm Saturday 29th June.

Patrons with 3-Day Early Entry passes will be directed to the closest roads and campsites; those with 2-Day Early Entry passes to the next closest roads and campsites; and those with 1-Day Early Entry & Standard Vehicle Passes to areas further towards the back.

CHANGE OF ROLL IN HOURS SATURDAY 29TH JUNE – 8AM-8PM

Given the likelihood of larger numbers than usual rolling in on Saturday prior to any rain and also providing the opportunity for those arriving into Birdsville late on Saturday to be able to roll in, we have extended roll in hours from 8am to 8pm (only Saturday 29th June).

CHANGE OF TICKETING HOURS AT THE WIRRARRI VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE

In line with the later closure of roll-in, the ticketing office will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29th.

Ticketing hours from Sunday 1st July onwards remain unchanged.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE ROLLING IN

  • Food vendors are now operating starting from today, Friday 28th June.
  • It’s highly recommended that you bring gumboots and rain jacket.
  • No vehicle movements will be permitted if the site is wet as this will damage the site and prolong the dry out period for further vehicles to enter. There may also be some restrictions to pedestrian movements on site depending on conditions.
  • The same campsite rules will apply in regards to vehicle movements, camping with a group, generator use etc. You can review Bashville site rules here.

If these changes don’t suit your camping set-up, or if you won’t arrive in time, or if you don’t want to be camped at the festival site for this extended duration, you should choose to stay in Birdsville until such time you can roll in.
