Birdsville Big Red Bash
It's Live! in Queensland

2-4 JULY 2024

Roll In Updates – 29th June 2024

ROLL IN SUSPENDED FOR SUNDAY 30TH JUNE

The latest official BOM forecast predicts 5-20mm of rain on Sunday commencing soon after midnight Saturday. Most models predict rain around the middle to higher end of this range.

As a result, we are suspending roll in from Sunday morning until we can assess site conditions and determine when roll in can resume.

To remind all patrons, roll in is remaining open until 8pm tonight (Saturday 29th June). We recommend you roll in before the rain, if possible.

Luckily, there is no rain expected from Monday onwards. The show will go on, and we can’t wait to rock the Simpson Desert! 🤘

BIRDSVILLE COMMON CLOSED FROM 4PM TODAY

We’ve just been informed by the Diamantina Shire Council that all campers at the Common are required to relocate to a new camping area by 4 pm today due to Sunday’s expected rain.

New camping area: along the Bedourie road, on the right side just after the wash bay.

BIRDSVILLE TRACK LIKELY TO CLOSE FROM SUNDAY

The rain we’re expecting will also fall across most of the Birdsville track and it will likely be closed. If you’re planning to use the Birdsville Track from Sunday you should consider other route options.

TICKET COLLECTION

Ticket Office will be open for all ticket holders to exchange their e-tickets for wristbands and vehicle stickers at the Wirrarri Visitor Information Centre.

Open Hours
Saturday 29th June: 9am-7pm
Sunday 30th June – Wednesday 3rd July: 9am-5pm
Thursday 4th July: 9am – 3pm

Travellers are reminded to keep up to date with local weather and road reports as conditions can change. It only takes a small amount of rain to have an effect on local roads, so please plan ahead and check your plans regularly.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE ROLLING IN

  • Food vendors are operating as usual.
  • It’s highly recommended that you bring gumboots and rain jacket.
  • No vehicle movements will be permitted if the site is wet as this will damage the site and prolong the dry out period for further vehicles to enter.
  • The same campsite rules will apply in regards to vehicle movements, camping with a group, generator use etc. You can review Bashville site rules here.

If these changes don’t suit your camping set-up, or if you won’t arrive in time, or if you don’t want to be camped at the festival site for this extended duration, you should choose to stay in Birdsville until such time you can roll in.
