Tourism is a major driver of the outback economy, and thousands of small regional and outback businesses benefit from large events like the Big Red Bash. Through information gathered from post event surveys, it’s conservatively estimated that the Big Red Bash and its patrons spend close to $15M in regional and outback Queensland. We encourage our patrons to be prepared and equipped for remote travel, and to be aware that availability of specific goods and services may not be as reliable as in our major cities. However, we also urge people to think about spending money in the towns that they pass through – fuel, groceries, meals out, haircuts, accommodation, food and drinks, tours and gifts are all fantastic ways to generously contribute to the outback economy and to experience some wonderful and genuine outback hospitality.
The Big Red Bash also supports local business wherever possible, by choosing local accommodation providers for our artists, working with local businesses and council and using local contractors.
